Jabberwocky lLesson

The discussion of Jabberwocky in class made me begin to think about how this poem could be incorporated into a class discussion in an intermediate school class. I feel it would be interesting to have students give meanings to the different made-up words that are found throughout this poem. Like the handout that discusses Lewis Carroll's meanings, the students would have to open up to their own imagination to give meaning to the make believe words. By doing this, the view of the poem would have differences among the students and each one could explain what they experienced while reading the poem.

Many students do not open up to their own individual creativity in the public school, non-advanced class. By having this lesson in an everyday english class, I believe that all the students would take part and have fun by sharing what they individually have experienced from this nonsense poem. Allowing individual creativity to come out would allow the students to acknowledge each other on a different level.
