Children's Literature so far

So far this class has been everything that I could expect. It is very enjoyable and by far my favorite class this semester. I enjoy being able to read and analyze stories that are so well known to me and being exposed to versions that I have not been told. I love to read and being able to learn about literature that is appealing to children makes me want to spread this joy to others.

This weekend while I was at my cousin's house, I was browsing her bookshelf and pulled off some books to read to her. Avery, who is six, was very enthusiastic about me wanting to read to her. Being a fairly new reader she soon took over. We read The Little Engine that Could and a few others. I was able to guide her in finding the lessons of these books and to determine the character's dillema or personality. This was a very rewarding experience, and even though it seems like an everyday activity for a six year old, I was able to offer guidance.
