Baby Book Basket
My best friend's sister is having a baby, and for a gift my friend and I are putting together a basket full of children's books. We have been brainstorming on what books should be bought for this gift. From starting to read the Children's Literature textbook for this class, I am reminded of some of my favorite classic children's books that I believe every child should be exposed to. Goodnight Moon, The Velveteen Rabbit, Where the Wildthings Are, and the Beatrix Potter books like Peter Rabbit and Flopsy Mopsy. In the textbook there is talk about what books help children seek comfort and help learn life lessons. Goodnight Moon is an exceptional book for teaching children to find comfort when their comfort zone is not available (like parents). I am very excited to learn about the history of children's literature from this class because I think it will help in picking out ideal books that will benefit a young child. This gift is going to be very special to give because I remember being read all these classics when I was younger by my mother, and I hope Ashley's sister will be able to share in this experience with her child.
